Air renewal per hour (ACH)
The air renewal per hour, often referred to by the acronym ACH (Air Changes per Hour), represents the number of times the air in your grow room is completely renewed in one hour. Effective air renewal is crucial for maintaining optimal temperature and humidity conditions, which promotes plant health. A high-performance exhaust system also helps maintain gas balance (CO2, O2), which is essential for the growth of your crops.
General recommendations for ACH:
- Vegetative plants: An air renewal of 15 to 30 ACH is often recommended.
- Blooming plants: An air renewal of 30 to 60 ACH is preferable to manage heat and humidity.
- Small rooms or with good ventilation: ACH can be lower, between 5 and 10, but it depends on the extractor's airflow and the space's ability to manage humidity and temperature.
This allows you to adjust the air extraction according to the needs of the cultivation while considering the specifications of the equipment used.
Using a charcoal filter
If you use a carbon filter in your growing space, it is important to include it in the air extraction calculation.
